Myanmar – I pray for you. “Thousands of demonstrators have taken to Myanmar's streets to protest the Feb. 1 military coup d ‘etat & brutal violence against civilians. The military, known as the Tatmadaw, took over after it rejected the results of the Nov. 13 election, claiming it was fraudulent. International observers say there's no evidence of fraud. Protesters want the military to relinquish power & release Aung San Suu Kyi, a civilian political leader & Nobel Peace Prize winner. She's been held in an undisclosed location since Feb. 1.” “The military has fiercely repressed protests. At least 250 people have been killed & more than 2,665, including some journalists, have been arrested in violent crackdowns by security forces. In addition to the violence, Myanmar is facing a serious economic crisis, with rising food & fuel prices stemming from the coup.” “Then there's China, which many protesters fear is supporting the coup because of its extensive business interests in Myanmar.” “The country's military has seized control of the country, arrested political leaders, & responded to ensuing protests with horrific violence. It declared martial law on March 14 in areas around Yangon.” “The military has charged Suu Kyi with inciting fear & alarm, breaking regulations on COVID-19 safety & possessing 6 walkie-talkie radios in violation of a telecommunications law.” “Demonstrations that began with residents banging pots & pans on balconies have evolved into massive street protests.” “Thousands of people took part in anti-military protests in Yangon, despite warnings from military officials that protests could lead to "the loss of life." “Protesters have painted large murals making their demands clear: WE WANT DEMOCRACY, SAVE MYANMAR, & RELEASE OUR LEADERS.” “Protesters have engaged in various forms of civil disobedience, including banging on pots from balconies, singing, dancing, driving slowly, marching in streets, blocking military vehicles, constructing barriers, & directly confronting troops wielding shields & slingshots.” “Many groups have come out to demonstrate against the military takeover, including medical professionals, women, bicycle & motorcycle riders, rickshaw drivers, & boaters.” “Police have responded with force, including tear gas, beatings & shooting protesters dead with live ammunition.” “More than 70 civilians have died, with some of the beatings & deaths captured on graphic videos streamed on social media.” “Police are trapping & incarcerating demonstrators en masse. Protesters have been seen practicing with shields - also been seen throwing Molotov cocktails.” “Videos of brutal acts against protesters have increased international outrage. CNN reported March 8 that government troops have seized hospitals & universities in a move to consolidate power.” “The U.S., the United Nations & other countries have condemned the coup but have taken no action.” “AP reporter Thein Zaw & other journalists have been arrested & charged with violating a public order law.” “Voice of America News reported that at least 38 journalists have been detained.” “Demonstrators are using the three-finger hand salute from "The Hunger Games" film series as a symbol of defiance.” I’ve heard others from Myanmar say in the news that their 3 finger salute means democracy that they want & are fighting for. Thank you USA Today for such a comprehensive news report explaining Myanmar’s civil unrest from the beginning. What a blessing you are.

My Lord & my God & our Father, please bring peace & understanding to Myanmar by Your Spirit & Way of Life with Your Truth & understanding & will in Jesus’s name. Please set the captives free & restore order in Myanmar for Your good will & the sake of life in Jesus’s name. Amen.

“Hundreds of protesters released in Myanmar” Thank You my Lord & God for the release of these people! The Hill reported on March 24, “Military forces in Myanmar in a rare move Wednesday released hundreds of people who had been imprisoned in connection with demonstrations against last month’s military coup that ousted leader Aung San Suu Kyi & the country’s civilian government. State-run TV said that a total of 628 people were released, with witnesses noting busloads of mostly young people outside Insein Prison in Yangon, according to The Associated Press.” “Some of those released reportedly flashed the three-finger gesture that has been adopted by protesters to show their opposition to the military coup.”

Thank you USA Today & The Hill & Associated Press,
& all other news media sources who have accurately reported on this conflict in Myanmar.
